- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- In Canarsie and surrounding communities, there is a gap in access to affordable, comprehensive creative education, life skills training, and career development for both young people and adults. This gap often leads to limited opportunities for personal growth, career readiness, and economic mobility, leaving many individuals without the tools to pursue their passions or navigate life challenges effectively.
- What is the solution to the challenge?
- The To Whom Much Is Given program directly addresses these challenges by offering a holistic, multicultural 12-week series of creative workshops designed for all ages. The program focuses on nurturing creativity, emotional intelligence, and essential life skills, such as financial literacy, career preparedness, and personal advocacy.\n\nLocal aspiring creative entrepreneurs will lead these workshops, benefiting from professional development in leadership and emotional intelligence, while also receiving daily pay for mentoring and sharing their craft. These mentors will engage with youth in Canarsie and neighboring communities, providing them with the opportunity to learn various creative disciplines and entrepreneurship.\n\nThe program also provides Life Skills Workshops for young adults and adults, including vital topics such as sexual and reproductive health, financial planning (budgeting, credit management, investing), resume building, interview skills, and coding. These workshops aim to prepare individuals for real-world challenges and empower them to make informed decisions for their futures.\n\nBy offering a range of workshops for children through after-school programs and adults on selective weekdays and weekends, this program ensures accessibility and inclusivity for all participants.
