- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- Many people do not understand how to handle their personal finances and the importance of paying bills on time.
- What is the solution to the challenge?
- A workshop or class that teaches basic financial handling and the importance of paying bills on time, including the effects on credit and other consequences (as in difficult to find rental housing if rent is not paid on time). Include resources people can turn to for help, how to check your credit report for free (annualcreditreport.com), how to budget (too many people end up short each month and can't pay their bills), ways to increase income (gig work, second job, start a small business providing a service (bookkeeping, cleaning, etc.), rent a room or space, etc.), classes/education for careers, etc.. It can include information about our money for immigrants if needed. It could include how to do simple income taxes, how to minimize subscriptions, how to balance a checkbook, how to find a bank account and/or credit card (including a secured credit card) and manage it, how to avoid scams, lots of topics. It could be an online free course anyone can take. You would be surprised by what some people don't know and this class could help everyone. If you do modules of topics, people can choose the modules they want to take.
