- Which group(s) does your idea focus on? Select as many as apply.
- drivers
- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- as drivers exit the third avneu bridge coming from the bronx to manhattan, many folk get bunched up right there along the park going to 2nd avenue, to either go south on 2nd avenue or to make that turn to go over the triborough bridge to queens. HOWEVER, IF you changed the traffic direction between 127th street and 128th street on third avenue to go 'south' for only 1 block to 127th,then folk bunched up on 128th street there by harlem river park, can easily just make the right turn on 3rd avenue, and then immediately make a left onto 127th street to goto 2nd avenue south, and be on their way, without getting caught up in all the traffic going over the triborough bridge. you may ask, well what about the folk that want to go upto 128th on third avenue... well there no pace for them to go actually, and they can only make that right on 128th, and then theyre back in the congesiton... but let say a driver is driving up 3rd avenue towards the triborough, well then they make the right on 127th.. BUt that 1 block (in fron of the 'kings academy') can easily take much of the traffic backed up on 128th, and cleanly route them to 127th and then on their way down 2nd avenue
- What is the solution to the challenge?
- change the direction of the traffic to go 'south' on 3rd avenue for 1 block, 128th to 127th.
