- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- There are too many old books being thrown away into the garbage. I want to reduce the trash in New York by creating more book birdhousing. We already have these boxes in Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village and Rutherford Park. The Greenpoint Reformed Church has one outside its building in Brooklyn. The public school playgrounds and parks of the East Village and Greenwich Village need these Book Bird Houses. People can take one book and donate one or more book to the box instead of throwing it in the garbage. Or a child could take one book to read at home and return it or donate another book. Some books cannot be recycled like a newspaper or magazine. These books can be turned into crates or other innovative items being sold in the stores in the city.
- What is the solution to the challenge?
- I want a book bird house built at the Asser Levy Playground on East 11 Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. I want a box built at the park on East 4 Street between Broadway and the Bowery. There is a park on East Houston Street and the Bowery that needs a box. There is a park on Bond Street.
