- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- Transitioning community members returning from incarceration back into society by providing resources and housing to assist them in the process of returning to work, reconnecting with their families, and avoiding homelessness, poverty, and recidivism.
- What is the solution to the challenge?
- Permanent supportive housing with wraparound services, including Housing; Healthcare (mental & physical); Clothing/Food/MetroCards; Job Support/Reference letters/trades training; Education Support; Rehabilitative services; Healing circles/restorative justice programming; Gym; general Classes/learning opportunities; Support services/referrals; Coaching/Mentorship; and reconnecting Families. This allows men to get back on their feet and reestablish their presence in their community and family while not having worry about falling back because they cannot afford to live and are in survival mode. We want them to thrive, and the best way to encourage that is to give them a solid foundation to begin rebuilding their lives on and provide support and resources until they can stand on their own.
