    What problem would you like to solve?

    Health and wellness issues in the South Bronx community, including diabetes and hypertension, drug addiction, and STDs.

    Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

    We have a significant amount of diabetes, hypertension, drug addiction, and STDs in our local community. There are few healthy eating choices as we have more bodegas than supermarkets, and 14% of our residents do not have health insurance in Bronx Community District 1.

    What idea do you have to address the problem?

    Workshops to teach about drug addiction, STDs, pregnancy and birth control, healthy eating and obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.

    Who would that help?

    Everybody who lives in the South Bronx as health related issues affect our entire community in various ways. Particularly the Black and Latino populations, who have significant numbers of STDs, diabetes, and hypertension.
