The People's Money (2022-2023)
Your Money, Your Community, Your Voice.
More Eyes on the Streets
What problem would you like to solve?
East Harlem has too many public safety issues that are affecting everyone and especially our businesses. The lack of adequate surveillance on commercial areas is causing many businesses to close due to deft and other criminal activity.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
The lack of security cameras puts us all at risk. Older adults are often victims of crimes because individuals know they are vulnerable and they will not be caught. This impacts everyone. It impacts our economic future because we keep losing essential businesses and the jobs they generate for local residents. More security cameras will help reduce crime rates because they deter criminal activity.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Our money should work for us and should be used to protect us. This money should be used to install security cameras at busy intersections where lots of people and businesses interact. They should be installed in other not so busy residential areas where many small businesses operate.
Who would that help?
This would help everyone in the community and businesses and institutions.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
East Harlem and Central Harlem.
