What problem would you like to solve?
Staten Island is one of the highest borough per capita suffering from a high rate of unintentional overdose. In 2010 the unintentional overdose death where 14.2 which increase to 30.2 by 2020. Overdose prevention training is an evidence base training for the use of naloxone to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Distributing narcan and teaching people to use it is an effective means of prevention death among people who misuse heroin, fentanyl, prescription opioids, and other opioids. With brief training, most adults can learn to administer life-saving naloxone. Persons who are trained will receive a free complimentary Narcan Kit. Mental Health has increase in Staten Island school by 70 percent. Educating, promotion an offering services and resources within the community will allow for the barriers of mental health to be addressed. Promoting Wellness within the community will reduce the barriers of transportation, obtaining a health care professional and other barriers to receiving services for wellness.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community? Overdose death increased at least 26 percent within ten years. Providing overdose prevention to the community will lessen unintentional overdose deaths. Providing resources for mental health and wellness in the community will promote wellness and allow person to obtain information about care, hopefully within their community. This is relevant to reduce the deaths from overdose and to engage the underserve population in mental health services and wellness care. As I mentioned earlier on Staten Island the rate in school of mental health increase 70 percent promoting a wellness fair will engage the community, children and parents in collaborating for the health of self and youth.

What idea do you have to address the problem?
To have a fair with vendors, professionals, services provider, trainers, mini assessment, referral to address the limited resource to mental health and wellness. If the opportunity allows have presenters to speak about mental health and wellness awareness. If we can acquire a professional to volunteer to promote services. To have onsite trainer train community in Narcan and distribute kits. Demonstrate services from individual session, groups session, mindfulness and other skills to reduce mental health. for the children's have rock climbing wall provide by the NYC police department, the department of parks have activities that they promote for young children and other activities to promote socializations. Provide snacks, food, drinks.
