Many of these centers lack space, resources and activities for seniors. At the same time, youth in the community have very little free after school programming. This lack of extracurricular activities for our youth is a problem that affects their level of education, mental health, public safety and more.</p><p><strong>Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community? </strong></p><p>This lack of extracurrcular activties for our youth and seniors is a problem that affects their level of education, mental health, public safety and more.</p><p><strong>What idea do you have to address the problem?</strong></p><p>Seniors and Youth can benefit from a program that allows them to be part of free programming and at the same time increase social capital between youth and seniors that live in the same communities. Youth can teach seniors how to use technology, and the seniors can mentor the youth in how to open a bank account, open a credit card, etc. This would serve as a mentorship program for the youth and a community buddy for seniors who sometimes need support getting from one place to another, carrying things etc. one youth a one senior would be paired, they would be given activities and resources in line with their preferences and needs.
