Bed-Stuy History Taught in Schools
What problem would you like to solve?
Lack of cultural awareness about the history of Bed-Stuy. Submitted on behalf of Golda, Bed-Stuy Resident.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
It's important to expand the definition of American history to include facts about what happened locally in historic New York neighborhoods. It is relevant for this history to be taught in Bed-Stuy so old and new residents can deepen their appreciation for what was, and consider that before replacing with something new.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
To address the problem of lack of cultural awareness about Bed-Stuy, I propose to create a curriculum about the history of Bed-Stuy and incorporate that into District 16 schools.
Who would that help?
A curriculum about the history of Bed-Stuy would help students and adults alike.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Bedford-Stuyvesant
