Tennis and Fencing in Bed-Stuy Schools
What problem would you like to solve?
Lack of diversity among athletes in tennis and fencing. Submitted on behalf of Golda, Bed-Stuy Resident.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Diversity is important for representation. It is relevant for the Bed-Stuy community to expose students of color to sports where historically they have been under-represented.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
I would like to add tennis and fencing as a free afterschool program in District 16 schools.
Who would that help?
Having tennis and fencing available as a free afterschool program would help students gain exposure and build skills in the sports. It would also help to potentially diversify the sport as students progress in skill and eventually play at a professional level.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Bedford-Stuyvesant
