What problem would you like to solve?
Art Education/performing
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
It is important for our children/students to have a place in their own Community, where they can thrive and go on to do beautiful things. In many predominantly black and brown Community's we lack funding to bring programs for the arts in schools. They focus more on core education, often believing it is not important to focus on art education. Many students in our Community aspire to sing, dance , draw/paint and want to go on to schools such as LaGuardia high school ,Highs schools of the preforming arts etc. But we don't have the resources, so many families go outside the district to enroll children in other districts that have programs we lack Dropping the enroll rates.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
We bring more programs for the arts, teachers/coaches ,equipment
Who would that help?
Students who are enrolled in our school , incoming students, Community, parents
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
East Flatbush, Flatbush

What problem would you like to solve?
The lack of resources for the Art Education/Performing Arts programs.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
This matter is important as many of our children/students come to our school as a first introduction into Theater and Performing Arts, but we lack the funding to provide the best experience. I believe my school does a great job of preparing student academically but do not have the resources to make sure students are thriving in all departments. Many of our student aspire to become singers, dancers, painters, etc. So many wish to get accepted into High Schools of Preforming Arts and due to our lack of resources, their families are forced to seek external programs and classes. I've even seen families move their children into school outside of the district to give their children the Preforming Arts support they need. Many may not feel this has an impact on the community but I do. Keeping children heads in the books and giving them hobbies will always have its benefits, so investing in their interests can only lead to amazing things.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
I'd like to address the problem by bringing more art/theater/music programs to our school. I would love to bring a more seasoned an acting coach. Along with more equipment and resources for our students.
Who would that help?
This would help currently enrolled student, graduates, parents and the east Flatbush community.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
