English Language Classes
What problem would you like to solve?
The problem we would like to solve is making free or low cost English classes available for non-English speakers.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Recently there have been a wave of migrants that have been immigrating to sanctuary cities, like New York City. They came from various countries where English isn't typically spoken or taught. In order to get a decent job here or even to get around doing daily activities, knowing the basics of English is needed in order to communicate with customers, clients, coworkers, and bosses.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
An idea we have for addressing this problem is getting funding for community centers, community colleges, and other business, the supplies and sources needed in order to teach English classes to non-English speakers at a low cost.
Who would that help?
This would help immigrants, refugees, and migrants who have come to New York City to start a new life and are determined to learn the language in order to make it easier for them to get around and get a job.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
This would benefit all boroughs as all boroughs have immigrants and refugees that don’t speak English.
