What problem would you like to solve?
Infrastructure between boroughs is either unreliable or very inaccessable and expensive during closures. Some busses cost nearly 7 dollars and I have social anxiety, people will press up against you as close as possible because they cannot wait for the train home, so the tiny shuttles when the routes need an alternate are extremely unideal. Mental health is not a thing you just suck up and get over suddenly, and god forbid I walked with a cane, or had a walker, and all those routes are rerouted, then for a bus from bronx to manhattan a few days is about 98 dollars for 2 ways each day.
I think those should either be incorporated in OMNY fare caps to increase the incentive to want an OMNY card and not feel like it's a giant compulsory scam (I do not but it's an opinion i hear spoken) or just lower the price for the busses altogether when there is construction.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
It encourages divides in our community both by class and health.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Decrease or make Express Bus fares free during shutdowns on borough trains, or add them to the OMNY fare cap.
Who would that help?
The poor, people with both invisible and visible disabilities.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Manhattan (citywide)
