More Public Benches
What problem would you like to solve?
The problem that we would like to solve is the lack of public seating in the Brighton Beach area.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
A good chunk of the Brighton Beach community residents are elderly and their main source of transportation are either buses or walking. However, due to various health reasons they cannot walk or stand for too long which is why there is a need for more public benches and seating. There are multiple bus stops that don't have bus shelters and one needs to walk several blocks in order to find a decent place to sit (which usually aren't even proper seating and just building steps or a ledge).
What idea do you have to address the problem?
An idea to combat this issue is installing bus shelters or benches to all bus stops and adding public benches around the community. The benches can even be a way of beautifying the community. Artists can be hired to paint or build benches which can involve community members and children as well.
Who would that help?
This would help the elderly and parents with kids who cannot walk for too long. This would also help those who rely on buses for transportation.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Brooklyn would benefit from this idea, especially the Brighton Beach community.
