What problem would you like to solve?
The youth of our neighborhood is at risk every day of being recruited into activities that can distract them from personal growth and even lead to violence and crime.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
New York city is plagued at this moment with violence and crime. By focusing on our future leaders and overlooked social influencers, the youth, we can ensure that they are grounded with support and influenced with positive opportunities. This will help the entire community with a combination effort to bring people of different ages together and provide the youth with needs.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
We have arrived to a proposal of a creation of a youth program with mentorship and resource hub where teens can feel comfortable in, join and reach out. This program would be after school and offer all types of readiness and links to resources including college prep, mental health options, sports programs, scholarships, school alternative options, life skills, financial literacy and job training
Who would that help?
The youth of the community, families and the community as a whole
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
East Harlem and all neighborhoods with youth
