Low Income Youth Sports Programs
What problem would you like to solve?
The historical inequities barring low income youth from participating in sports that tend to be expensive to play/learn to play or require an exclusive membership to practice (i.e. tennis, golf, swimming).
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Children should be exposed to different kinds of experiences. Sportsmanship teaches children valuable lessons. Representation matters. No one should be hindered from trying a sport that interests them, because their parents would have to choose between putting food on the table or buying a tennis permit.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Have summer programs for children from low-income households to learn tennis, golf, or competitive swimming.
Who would that help?
Low income children and their parents
