Teaching artists
What problem would you like to solve?
Lack of funding for the arts in schools, as well as support for working artists, and the arts in general.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Art is so important to human growth on both a personal, and thus, societal level, relating to every aspect of the human experience. And especially for youth (though really everyone), it helps them learn to express themselves (in a healthy and productive way), to work through their struggles, and ultimately, find their own voice.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Teaching artist programs provide opportunities for artists both to work and earn a living, as well as to help shape the next generation. And for the students, it provides them with an outlet for their feelings and experiences, which is beneficial to humanity whether they go on to become artists or not.
It also helps bridge the gap in arts education, until we can better fund schools in general.
Who would that help?
Students, artists... society, humanity.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Queens
