Trainer at indoor Basketball gyms
What problem would you like to solve?
[I would like to address the lack of safe spaces for youths in my community]
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
[To help kids interested in the sport get better in a safe environment. To promote comradery in groups of kids/youths that might normally not have much in common. effective team building - to give kids something to look forward to and maybe even goals to aspire to - but mostly to keep them occupied with something worthwhile and even inspire them to want to do something with themselves other than run the streets.]
What idea do you have to address the problem?
[Having actual trainers at community center gyms available for free to kids after school. Sports are not always free and some of us can't afford equipment anyway so things like little league and peewee football are out of reach, but if our community center could offer something similar that we could participate in like the indoor basketball trainer/coach a sport that a lot of my contemporaries are into and can be done with a pair of sneakers and a ball it would make a lot of us feel understood and part of something.]
Who would that help?
[It would help under privileged kids in my neighborhood feel safe heard and seen. It would help get kids involved and out of streets. It would help build bridges between different groups. It would help bring something positive to our neighborhood]
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
