What problem would you like to solve?
Immigrant women often survived traumatic experiences, leaving them with low self-esteem, low levels of self expression and self reflection. Additionally, the community has few cultural outlets where you can take part in the performance art in a low cost way.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Involvement in performance art increases life satisfaction, self-esteem and the ability to self-reflect. These skills spill over on to better job interviews and work performance. Additionally it promotes participation in the arts
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Theater workshops for adult immigrant women with no theater experience. The workshops focus on body expression, voice expression, self-reflection. A hands-on approach to performing and feeling safe within one's own body.
