Empower libraries to aid in education
What problem would you like to solve?
Many parents struggle to help their kids learn and schools are limited in time for independent and curiousity-based learning
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Kids need the chance to develop a love of learning and many students lack the guidance and resources, adding to the gap in acheivement
What idea do you have to address the problem?
1. Train children's librarians in project-based, student-led learning; 2. Get teachers' input on most useful materials to buy for kids to use (checkout?); 3. Set up "learning" modes on computers with access to only vetted websites; 4. More library staff so libraries can stay open later!
Who would that help?
kids, parents, teachers, librarians
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Manhattan, especially Harlem
