Apprenticeship Incentives
What problem would you like to solve?
Certain trades are fading away and people have to travel further and pay more for these trade services (upholstery, welding, woodworking). Youth have less access to hands-on learning these days.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
The community loves to shop local but there are many trades that have faded and there is a knowledge barrier to entry. Teens would have a wider view of what a "job" can look like in this increasingly depressing economy.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Offer monetary incentives to local craftsman to take on an apprentice or two each year.
Who would that help?
Teens who are looking to learn a trade and work for themselves.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Brooklyn
