What problem would you like to solve?
Equity and increase awareness for the Chinese/Asian community and culture.[your answer here]
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
To-date, NO mainstream parade or route runs through Manhattan for the annual Lunar New
Year celebration, the most important social and economic holiday for billions of people around
the world. Many other ethnic or cultural celebrations have this opportunity and exposure, e.g.,
National Puerto Rican Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco De Mayo, Easter, Gay Pride, etc. A
mainstream parade representing the Chinese/Asian people and culture, with broad media
coverage, would be extremely relevant to our community and generate immerse PRIDE. It
would also raise awareness and love for our people, culture, beauty, and new things that may
be unknow or unfamiliar to others – especially important now, with widespread
misunderstanding or aggression against Asians.[your answer here]What idea do you have to address the problem?
Organize and professionally-produce the 1st Annual NYC Lunar New Year Parade by rallying as
many Chinese/Asian community based organizations, leaders, citizens (youth, parents, seniors,
all), local talent, Asian celebrities. And create a wide-reaching PR and social media campaign to
capture the broadest coverage.your answer here]Who would that help?
This project not only helps the Chinese and Asian community – citizens of all ages, youth
through seniors – but would also delight, enlighten, educate people of all cultures, everyone in
New York City and nationally (via social and broadcast media).[your answer here]What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Manhattan
