What problem would you like to solve?
Mental Health- Lack of quality/diversity of social workers/psychiatrists
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
We need more quality social workers and psychiatrists who look like us (in wheelchairs/colored people/maybe even similar mental disabilities to talk to) who offer quality advice. Many of these social workers offer an ear nowadays, but not necessarily a safe and interactive and positivity instilling space.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Create ways that social workers/psychiatrist can choose the participants they want to work with instead of assignments, and hire more people in the field. Create more trainings necessary to having a more open mind for these workers, trainings on diversity, trainings on removing biases, trainings on how to offer quality advice to certain problems patients may be facing
Who would that help?
Social worker/psychiatrist, clients - because there is now more motivation, progress, and connection when they are similar. Encourages clients to speak more comfortably, allows social workers/psychiatrists to give more proper advice.
