Mission: Clean Up South Bronx
What problem would you like to solve?
Filthy sidewalks and streets -- food refuse, paper waste, bottles, broken glass, excrement (dog and human), rotting food from school refuse, illegal dumping
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
To protect residents, especially families with children, from disease -- in particular, to curb the rat problem. To instill and inspire a sense of pride and ownership in the immediate environment of the neighborhood. To uplift the spirits of those walking through these neighborhoods daily.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Create a task force to examine and assess problem areas and school sanitation practices in the area. Identify businesses, apartment buildings, and vacant lot owners who are chronic offenders, and hold those as well as community parks and facilities accountable for keeping their surroundings clean.
Who would that help?
Everyone who lives and works in the South Bronx/Mott Haven, particularly children and business owners.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Bronx
