Food bank with seeds
What problem would you like to solve?
With so many people living with food insecurity, it would be good for them to be able to grow some of their own food.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Food insecurity has become a major problem in the Bronx since the pandemic started. Food banks have been a huge help, and food banks that also provide seed seems like the next logical step.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
A program should be created where people receive seeds as well as meals.
Who would that help?
This would help people living with food insecurity not just by providing them with additional food but also by giving them a sense of agency and control over their situation.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Several people in the idea generation session liked this idea and wanted it in their neighborhoods: Soundview, Morrisania, Burnside Avenue, uptown on 242nd Street.
