Free Supplies for New and Low Income Families
What problem would you like to solve?
The problem we would like to solve is making supplies like school supplies, medical supplies, house supplies, etc. more accessible to new and low income families.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Recently there have been a wave of migrants that have been transported from Texas to New York City. They come with little to nothing but the clothes on their backs. In order to help them accommodate living in a new city, an expensive one as well, I think it's important for them to have easy access to cheap supplies to help them begin their new lives in a foreign country and neighborhood. Not to mention the waves of immigrants from other countries that have also found their way into New York city and also need access to basic living supplies to get them up and running. Brighton Beach has seen new immigrants coming into the neighborhood and struggling to provide for their families which is why the problem is relevant to the community.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
An idea we have for addressing this problem is the city government helping to organize and facilitate more community drives where these medical, health, school, clothing, food, etc. supplies to be given to these new and low income families. The city can help provide these supplies or the supplies can be donated and sorted through.
Who would that help?
This would help low income families, immigrants, refugees, and migrants who have come to New York City to start a new life.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
This would benefit all boroughs as all boroughs have low income families and immigrants.
