LES Bridges the Gap Jobs Program
What problem would you like to solve?
Job training/workers rights. Without better career training, people in the community don't have access to good jobs and are forced to rely on other income support programs.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Allowing people of all working age access to job training and educating them on their rights will prove for a more stable and productive community.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
This project would create more programs or centers that provide career training at low or no cost to the applicants. Training can focus on careers in fields such as: medical, education, legal, IT, construction or building trades, law enforcement, or civil service. The program would culminate in licensure or certification; they would offer career exploration sessions to provide information about different professions. Participants would learn about wages, benefits and other important things about various careers. The program should not require a referral to participate.
Who would that help?
Everyone, especially families and adults over 18. Everyone benefits when people can access good jobs that pay enough to afford rent and necessities.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Manhattan's Lower East Side
