Combating Mental Disparities in Youth through the Arts
What problem would you like to solve?
Helping youth use their voice through the arts to help combat mental disparities in their home and in public settings, which will help with communication. We also know this will help the problem of the lack of community engagement in the neighborhoods we serve.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Our youth rarely have artist outlets in a structured environment that take place in their communities led by community members, This is relevant to the community in many forms it will bring back a safe spaces in the community where the people live, work and play.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Positive outlets through arts, Communication skills, using open spaces for artistic expressions through out the community. An entire curriculum that focuses how to focus energies through arts that decreasing negative occurrences in youth and the families involved.
Who would that help?
This programing will help Youth and families living in underserved areas low income areas of East and West Harlem. This will benefit the community in its entirety which will cause a ripple effect for other communities through out the city.
