What problem would you like to solve?

Many of our older adults struggle with using the MTA bus system. Many of the bus stop signs are small or nonexistent.

Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?

This is an important issue to solve because many of our community members are older adults who cannot read small print and do not know how to use a cell phone to navigate the MTA bus system. Thus, many of them struggle to understand the bus schedule as to when the bus will arrive and how long of a waite they have. This is relevant to our community because many of our older adults use public transportation and this issue results in many difficulties for them.

What idea do you have to address the problem?

Some Bus stops already have large digital boards that display bus timing and when the next bus will come. However, in Brighton beach we do not have the new signs and many struggle to understand when the next bus will come. Adding more digital bus signs at stops will make it easier for many to understand the bus schedule.

Who would that help?

This will not only help older adults in the community but everyone else as well. This will allow for many to use the MTA in a less stressful way and be able to understand how long one has to waite for the next bus.

What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?

This will benefit the Brooklyn borough and specially the Brighton Beach Neighborhood.
