Mental Health Training and Community Outreach

Train and send out speakers in a variety of languages and cultures to houses of worship and other community group venues to give public presentations and educate and inform people about the mental health services available to them and their children. This project would develop culturally and linguistically appropriate brochures to distribute, messaging for social media (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram platforms) to effectively share information and resources.

We all know that there is a great need for more community mental health services. While we need to address homelessness with more access to affordable housing, one of the most pressing issues underlying homelessness is mental illness. There is also a connection between mental illness and some of the violent behaviors we are witnessing. What happened to the housing projects that had a mental health treatment component? Also, please remember addiction is considered a mental health issue. We, here in Staten Island are losing so many to overdoses.
