Project Description: The goal of this project is to help build a resilient local food system by educating the community where healthy & fresh food/herbs come from. The organization will train the young people involved in the process on the different ways they can serve their community. East New York 4 Gardens is a hands-on organization. Our goal is to prepare the youth members for Americorp.
This open space farm will be environmentally friendly. Examples are collecting community organic waste for compost. We will also teach the benefits of recycling in the community. Saving and giving out extra seeds and plants to the community. The open space will introduce beneficial insects back to the area. Our bees will use pollination first and honey second. We are setting up rain water harvesting to crops and decorated floral. We will have a clothing exchange for the community that will be free.

Great way to target the issue of food deserts in the Brooklyn communities! Please do more work on this. Have been growing our own veggies and greens for the past few years, really makes a difference when you can't go and buy!
