Project Description: We seek support for Youth Leaders of our Student Success Center, a project in which high school students from the Taft Educational Campus in The Bronx will guide, encourage and support their peers to apply to and attend college. Through our project 8 Youth leaders will be trained to provide college guidance counseling to their peers and build a youth-led college-bound culture at 4 Taft High Schools.

Young people are most inspired to reach for success when they are guided by peers and youth leaders who come from similar backgrounds and perspectives, who have themselves succeeded. Our program provides 70 hours of training for paid positions to 8 youth leaders who will provide direct guidance in financial aid applications, college applications and the college search process to 200 high school students.

Today, at the start of 2021, with the ongoing Covid crisis impacting the long-term education aspirations of our City’s young people, inspiration and motivation are in high demand. As captured in the 4 brief interviews below, our youth leaders are deeply committed to helping their classmates continue their education beyond high school, and reach for their dreams.
