Breaking The Walls Of Insecurity
Creating a social peer group is just the beginning. Youth of this generation have long suffered from undiagnosed depression and quarantine has only worked to either expose this or help people succumb to their depression. My idea is to advocate for a social peer group that can be anonymous by choice. Zoom is a good platform for FaceTime however not everybody is comfortable with speaking and turning on their cameras however if we had a chatting platform it would be much more successful. People might say well there is a lot of programs like this just search google however, it is not beneficial to the youth to be told that they need fixing. It often feels like adults and society bluntly disregards the trauma of youth and they fail to recognize their faults while advocating that they are always right and that we don't know what's best for ourselves. However, if we were able to be openly vulnerable with people our age who are going through the same situations without the pressure of watching what you say because there are adults , the results will not be transient but would be long lasting. Society, social media, adults, and even parents all play a role in the problem however the youth has to create a network to show that someone in this world is going through the same problems and we are here to figure out a solution together. This includes tutoring, discussions about how to get into college without debt and even constructing what makes one genuinely happy. This platform isn't just about imagining because it is always impossible until someone else does it however, it is about dreaming so big you push yourself because if you won't do it who will.
