The "Guns Down Life Up" (GDLU) program provides mentorship and intervention to individuals affected by gun violence, aiming to reduce cycles of retaliation and violence. Founded in 2014 as part of NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, GDLU works with youth, victims of gun violence, and their families, offering support both at the hospital bedside and in the community. The program's mentors meet victims during vulnerable times, especially in hospitals, helping to de-escalate immediate emotions and prevent retaliatory actions. Mentors like Kartier Conway and director James Dobbins offer emotional support and resources that encourage nonviolent responses to traumatic events.
Beyond one-on-one mentorship, GDLU organizes educational workshops, youth empowerment events, and community outreach programs, promoting skills and alternatives to street violence. https://roofingflooringoutlet.com/roofing-baton-rouge/
