- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- People not having clear access to info such as shelters, coat donations, food pantries, electric and heat bill support, summer youth employment, high school employment, laptop rentals or donations, free cell phone support, WiFi Support, etc.
- What is the solution to the challenge?
- Select small Store fronts in areas near major train stations (14th street, 34th, etc.) Open NYC information centers. Office hours from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. Train and hire up to 100 people (preferably from 311) People can expect a walk up service where they can pick up a booklet of resource numbers and emails or click on the QR code on the window to be directed to the same directory online. People can ask for immediate services such as free nearby restrooms, emergency shelter, food services, child care, free emergency medical resources, and transportation, etc. This walk-up area would be guarded by a national guard member and occasionally patrolled by police and auxiliary police.
