- Describe the challenge you want to address:
- The skills gap is the divide between the millions of in-demand skilled trades jobs available right now and the number of qualified applicants ready and able to fill them. High schools and Colleges fall short of solving this problem by not teaching students skills that the workforce looks for. To solve this problem we can make use of those already in the professional field to educate our high schoolers.
- Describe your idea and approach to address the challenge:
- Workshops can be held across the borough to bring in Professionals to teach students the Skills that are being looked for by recruiters. Building these Skills within the students allows them to bridge the gap of skill between what jobs are looking for and what it presents. This allows them to be open to MORE HIGHER-PAYING jobs. This idea aims to make a lasting impact on the future success of our students and contribute to a workforce that is well-prepared for the challenges of the 21st century.
