What idea do you have to address the problem?
ESL/Computer literacy program for immigrant girls. This project will primarily focus on immigrant girls who are disproportionately marginalised in the educational system and who, due to no fault of their own, struggle to blend in and curve into productive students capable of intellectually pulling through, not just in academics but in life as well. With this initiative, we aim to provide ESL (English as a secondary language) courses and computer literacy program to immigrants girls who can't speak English, can't operate a computer and can't navigate through the social and cultural dynamic of the educational system. Our goal is to prepare these girls for a smooth transition into society and into the educational system and equip them with the fundamental basic skills to not only strive individually but be productive members of our community and of the nation as a whole. We aim to target 50 girls in our opening badge and progressively increase the numbers base on funding and available infrastructure. Please describe why this project is important and who it will serve primarily. Hundreds of immigrant girls in our community are being overlooked and papered over while their talent and potential languish in vain. These girls want a better life, and they know education is the only outlet they have to cultivate a promising future. Yet, education remains a distant reality for them due to language barrier. cultural limitations and social setbacks. Some of them live in the shadow of the law, constantly on edge, with no support system to lean on. The ramification of this phenomenon transcends the economic and intellectual empowerment of these girls; it's also about the unharnessed talent and lost potential that could significantly and meaningfully contribute to our economy and democracy. Therefore, the program is important, not just because it is the right thing to do, but because it's the smart and economically sound thing to do.
