Training for Pet Owners
What problem would you like to solve?
Pet owners are not properly trained to handle or care for pets, especially in public settings. This causes public safety and health concerns.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
We would like to see pet owners properly trained to handle pets, thus allowing people to venture out with their pets and interact positively with others, without fear of injuring others or being injured. This would ensure that pet owners are accountable to each other, to their pets as responsible owners, and to the community as pet owners who clean up the non-bird feces in our environment.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Free workshops/program for owner training and support; dog behavior classes; community building at dog parks/runs.
Who would that help?
Everyone who lives and works in the South Bronx, as we all encounter pets in the community, but especially the pet owners.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Mott Haven, Port Morris, Melrose
