Nature in the City
What problem would you like to solve?
Youth violence and youth trauma; children having more than the streets to influence their future.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Youth violence is rising in the city, especially in the South Bronx. This program would foster less crime among our youth and promote a safer community for all.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Partnering with community organizations for community-involved youth workshops in our parks and neighborhood gardens, for nature-related projects and events. Outreach to youth in crisis, in homeless shelters and on the streets, helping them to connect to their community while enjoying the physical and mental benefits of being in nature. This would instill a sense of community pride in our youth population.
Who would that help?
Youth at risk for violence
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Mott Haven, Port Morris, Melrose
