What problem would you like to solve?
The youth in NYC do not have much involvement in the government because we are not given the opportunity to do so. Most of the youth have great ideas which are not able to reach the government due to lack of connection.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
The youth of NYC are surrounded by influences which are appealing when there is nothing much to do. I have seen the youngest middle schoolers turn to violence. The youth know what we want and need especially in terms of our education.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Youth should be able to be a part of the DOE. High-schoolers should be able to have their own chairs as youth ambassadors, perhaps 2 per borough. The same with the Public Advocate, a youth co-public advocate to get in contact with the youth. Youth in economic department, etc.
Who would that help?
The voice of the youth is the voice of the future. I'm not saying that the youth should pass laws or finance New York, but be a part of the departments of NYC into a brighter place with their bright ideas.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Fordham and University Heights
