Lending library of CO2 monitors
What problem would you like to solve?
Help people understand indoor ventilation quality.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
As we've learned during the pandemic, infectious diseases are often airborne. Frequent air changes using good indoor ventilation can mitigate this risk.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Ventilation must be measured and a good, cheap way is to determine the buildup of CO2 in each indoor space. If CO2 levels stay low even when the space is being used, there is good ventilation. Libraries that let people borrow CO2 monitors will allow people to determine this on their own, if accompanied by some literature of how to use the CO2 monitors.
Who would that help?
Everyone, including those that don't ever use the CO2 monitors. Just a few people can make a world of difference by helping improve indoor air quality in shared spaces.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Morningside Heights and Hamilton Heights
