What problem would you like to solve?
The isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The negligence of the senior communities caused by the persistent socioeconomic disparity, and the fast-changing world.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Caring for the well-being of the senior community protects our roots as a human society. We learn where we come from, who we are, what we have been striving for, and what life means. How we engage with them reflects what we value and embed what the future holds for us. The challenges are unprecedentedly present, and the needs to address them are urgent.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Creates welcoming time and space for seniors to share enriching tea experiences through the appreciation and exploration of tea, arts, and culture. Inviting community members to listen, share each other’s stories, and enjoy the companionship of one another. Build meaningful connections among communities across different generations from various cultures.
Who would that help?
Under-served immigrant senior communities.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Bedford-Stuyvesant, Midwood, East New York, Chinatown, Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Mott Haven, East Harlem, East Village, Stapleton, Flushing, Sheepshead Bay
