What problem would you like to solve?
Social workers are over worked, but the city doesn't have enough money to hire more people.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Children are falling through the cracks because there is no one there to look out for them. We are not allowing these social workers enough time to do the job that trained for. Also, there is a disconnect in our communities, people don't truly understand or care about what others are going through.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Create a program where college and highschool students can help social workers be doing their paperwork/ administration work, so social workers have more time to interview with families, do wellness checks, and take more training course to improve their skills. This will also expose these students to the issues in the community, and might inspire them to want to be community leaders. They can get school credits, recommendation letters, or a monthly stipend as compensation.
Who would that help?
the community as a whole
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
The most impoverished neighborhoods, but the program would be open to all students in the city who want to help.
