The People's Money (2022-2023)
Your Money, Your Community, Your Voice.
Barbering Programs
What problem would you like to solve?
We need to get kids off of the street, learning things and trades that can help them get money when they get older. Even as a side hustle. It is expensive to live in NYC without a second job for many people.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
We want to uplift people, give people options and give them an ability that they can take with them anywhere.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
We should offer programs for people to learn how to cut hair. The pandemic showed us that barbers are a necessity, and not everyone has the skills to be able to cut hair. At least if they learn how to cut hair, and the process for what it takes to open a shop, we can promote entrepreneurship. You can work in college part time cutting hair. It helps and serves as a side hustle if you need to make extra money.
Who would that help?
Young people who want to learn a second trade that they can always use to make money.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Manhattan/Dyckman/Inwood
