The People's Money (2022-2023)
Your Money, Your Community, Your Voice.
Housing coordinator
What problem would you like to solve?
We need better help and services to move into better apartments. Better support. There is also a lot of discrimination in the moving process for low-income people, especially people with vouchers or on public assistance.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
It is expensive to move. Many people in low income communities like this one cannot afford to hire a broker. There is a lack of resources for people to try to find cheaper, more affordable apartments when they are low-income.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
We need funding for services like social workers and housing coordinators that can help us locate affordable housing, fill out applications, and apply for public benefit services that we can use.
Who would that help?
All low-income people who need to move because rents are too high.
What neighborhood would benefit from your idea?
Washington Heights/Inwood and all communities.
