This would help with rat and pest issues and prevent resources from ending up in landfills.</p><p><strong>Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community? </strong></p><p>We currently let a large amount of food waste go to landfills. Instead if more people composted, then a lot of this could go back to replenish our soil. This would also minimize rodents and pets by using the separate, better containers for food scraps.</p><p>Better education about what can and should be recycled helps streamline the recycling process, allowing for faster sorting in facilities.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>What idea do you have to address the problem?</strong></p><ul><li>Educate students about garbage, recycling, and compost in schools. School trips to sanitation and composting sites/facilities</li><li>Install compost containers throughout the city</li><li>Add stalls to farmer’s markets with composting and recycling demos and more information</li><li>Develop some way to have a liquid disposal so that people can drain containers before putting them into a recycling bin</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Who would that help?</strong></p><p>Everyone gets to have a cleaner city with less rats and insects and sanitation gets to have an easier time.</p><p><strong>What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?</strong></p><p>All</p>"},"title":{"en":"Sanitation awareness"}}
