Tech For Kingsbridge (Web Design Program for Teens/Adults)
What problem would you like to solve?
Introduce tech programs such as "intro to Web design" How to Develop Apps" How to implement tech in communities." Where our talented community leaders will give back by offering their skillset in tech to teens and adults. We will need 50 MacBook Pros to begin the program and travel to locations to offer the services as well as set an official location to offer it to members of the community.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
As the economic sentiment continues to shift to a tech-friendly society, we find it imperative that members of the community are well-equipped to challenge the status quo and be part of the conversation as to what kind of tech solutions will make the community more inclusive, sustainable, and inviting.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
A program where our team of tech experts offers free/paid seminars and online/offline lab courses on the fundamentals of web development and design thinking. We'll team up with the local middle schools, high schools, and community organizations to adopt as many early users as we continue to expand reach via online tools such as local ads, community forums, and the participation of our council members.
Who would that help?
A majority of teens and adults are looking to advance their skillset or engage in a side business/hobby to utilize tech in ways that contribute to local communities. This includes college students who will like to use technology to create community groups and solution groups that tackle injustice or advocate for broader green space initiatives. Other ways it may help is to advance the number of programs that may help members of the community find jobs such as "resume workshops" or "How to build a revenue generating website."
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
Kingsbridge.
