What problem would you like to solve?
New Yorkers create a lot of garbage.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
Garbage is bad for the Earth because it goes to a landfill and just sits there. Sometimes the garbage gets released into nature and harms ecosystems. Garbage is also a sign that resources, such as oil, are being used; the earth does not have unlimited resources.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
I would like the City to host free classes to help New Yorkers take better care of the earth. I would like to learn about our recycling system and why things need to be sorted and whether it actually gets recycled. I would like to have workshops where we can bring in broken items and get help on how to fix them. We could also have classes to help New Yorkers build gardens on their roofs and in their window sills.
Who would that help?
Nature. Future generations. I believe this would also help people now because when I do things that take care of earth, I get a good feeling.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
All boroughs.
