What problem would you like to solve?
The problem that needs to be solved is the constant violence in the neighborhood resulting in innocent young people dying on Staten Island . The police in the neighborhood don’t provide necessary support on violence, like kidnapping, endless killings, Etc.
Why is it important to solve? Why is it relevant for the community?
This idea is highly important to solve because of the innocent young lives that get taken everyday in neighborhoods on Staten Island, such as 10304,10310,etc. Because, Neighborhoods like those don’t get the help they need from people that look and think like them. It creates a division and no help in the community. Why this is so relevant is because of the innocent young people are dying over issues that can be solve over a simple conversation.
What idea do you have to address the problem?
Some ways to address this problem is creating training that specializes in caring for neighbors like 10304,10310, etc. Another way is creating a space where the community feels safe to reach out to the police when needed. Creating that space encourages people from that neighborhood to enroll in the policing system as well, having people of those communities work in their community. Lastly, another way to address the problem is to Stop Killing Innocent People.
Who would that help?
This idea will help a lot of people from the community. Not only will it help provide jobs and career for people of the community but will help keep them safe now. This helps them see themselves in places they might have pictured and lessen the division.
What NYC borough would benefit from your idea?
This idea will benefit Staten Island tremendously as it provides a sense of community within the different zip codes we have here. This idea will provide more jobs and career as well, create a community with a decrease in violence.
